Ham Rove’s Legacy; Colbert’s PAC Offers $770K for Hurricane Relief

After the death of Stephen Colbert’s Super PAC advisor and chief strategist Ham Rove, Colbert disbanded Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow. The Super PAC funding accumulated over $800,000 during its venture. Fans may have thought the ultra conservative talk show host would collect the Super PAC money and take flight to an uncharted island off the coast of Bermuda.

But they were wrong.

Colbert announced Thursday to viewers at home that more than $770,000 of the Super PAC money raised is going towards Sandy Relief and other charities. Habitat for Humanity and Team Rubicon will each be given $125,000 for rebuilding in lieu of Hurricane Sandy. Another $125,000 will be given to the Yellow Ribbon fund to help wounded soldiers and their families.

Most ironic and an obvious spite to the Super PAC model, Colbert also announced that the remaining funds will be split between the Center for Responsive Politics and the Campaign Legal Center. These groups campaign against, “The corrupting influence of outside money in politics,” explained Colbert.

The Super PAC Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow had been originally used as an educational tool by Colbert to expose fiscally malicious opportunities tooled by loopholes and embezzlement in the political system.
